That takes away our breath, Our strong hearts falter then, with fear, That this will end with death. - How precious is that breath of life That keeps our strong hearts going; So we must do the best we can, To keep that life-line flowing. - We struggle hard to get our breath, Inhalers give relief; And nebulizers give us help, To cause our lungs to breathe. - And sometimes oxygen is used; We need to take it pure. These all just treat the symptoms. But we know there is no cure. - And as we struggle, in our pain, It rests our hearts to know; That there are others near, who care, As heartfelt love they show. - They give their love unselfishly As friends in need, to be. We value much their fervent prayers, That bring sweet serenity. - Lord, help us savor every day, The breath of life you give, And the love of friends around us, As long as we shall live. July 1998 |
