My Caregiver

An Original Poem
By Glenda Jones

The caregiver is a very special person in the COPD patient's life.  Whether a family member, spouse, significant other, or an individual paid for their services, they are the lifeline to daily existence.  For the patient, it is misery to be out of breath when nothing seems to help.  For the caregiver, it is pure hell when these types of things happen and that helpless feeling comes upon you...but that is when the caregiver gives the  most..... with a soft word or a loving hug.

Please come and help me tie my shoe
I have come to depend so much on you
--
You assist me in all of my daily needs
I know I'm always calling your name it seems
You wipe away my tears and lift me up when I'm down
You are there for me when no one else is around
--
You are my strength that my body needs so
Your cheerful words always makes my heart glow
--
You are someone that stays with me when I'm ill
you listen and talk to me and seem to know exactly how I feel
--
You take away some of this stress with your friendly smiles
I know for me you would walk many many miles
--
You tell me not to be a quitter when I'm in pain
You say without me your life would not be the same
--
You give me your support and your loving care
I'm so thankful having a CAREGIVER like you my dear
